ferrari-monza-formula 1 history table
Data Visualization is an elective course that emphasizes analytical understanding, purposeful structuring, and clear visual presentation of information-rich content. The project required utilizing Edward R. Tufte’s Grand Principles of Information Design: problem definition, research, concept development, design, and implementation as a guide.
The table visualizes data based on the history of the Scuderia Ferrari S.p.A. racing team, Monza’s Grand Prix-winning competitors, and the lineup of project chronicles Formula 1 circuit nestled in Italy. As a note, “Scuderia” is an Italian term, which translates to stable in English. The term refers to Ferrari’s team of cars, much like racehorses in a stable. “The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza” is the formal name of the historic raceway, located near the city of Monza, Italy.
The Autodromo is the epicenter of the Italian Grand Prix, where Scuderia Ferrari S.p.A. and Formula 1 intersect to bring the globe the best in racing skill and ingenuity. Every year, since 1922, drivers from around the world are in full throttle, passionately driven to win at Monza.
The table journals Ferraris’s various automotive racing accomplishments between 1952 and 2018, itemizes historic course facts and technical data and lists an international network of winning drivers of past Italian Grand Prix races.
The table included designs in landscape and portrait formats—the vertical version was its original idea; however, test results from the layouts resulted in it being the consensus.
